Megawatt obtains B Corp certification

With the achievement of their B Corp certification, Megawatt demonstrates its commitment to a more sustainable and socially responsible business model. As CEO Stephan Kwast explains, the 360° activation agency feels a strong obligation to make more responsible choices for the people and the world around us. For Megawatt, this certification is a significant milestone and serves as a tool to evaluate their operations, set goals, and drive further improvements.

Charley Peereboom, Managing Director, emphasizes that this certification is not only a source of pride but also the result of two years of dedicated effort. Moreover, it sets a standard for the future. Megawatt makes an impact by developing consciously produced 360° activation campaigns. “We are strategic and creative in crafting the right message that resonates with our target audience, further increasing our positive impact on society.” The B Corp certification was not an end goal, but a means to reinforce our commitment to a better and more positive future for our industry.

Throughout the nearly two-year B Corp journey, Megawatt continuously worked to improve its sustainability and social responsibility. The process involved multiple stages, from impact analysis to implementation, and finally, verification by B Lab, the independent nonprofit organization behind the certification.

Some concrete examples:

  • Megawatt is the first agency in the Netherlands capable of producing responsible offline activities, always seeking more sustainable solutions in collaboration with clients and suppliers.
  • To provide tailored solutions and be the best possible employer, Megawatt offers benefits such as unlimited vacation days, a monthly extra budget through Alleo, a flexible retirement plan, and weekly personal training.
  • Megawatt works with leading suppliers to create a more sustainable future, starting with its own Code of Conduct.

How does the B Corp certification work?

Each B Corp meets high standards for social and environmental performance. Companies are evaluated on five components: governance, employees, environment, community, and customers. To be certified, a company must score a minimum of 80 points. Megawatt scored 91.7 points, placing it alongside companies such as Tony’s Chocolonely, Clipper, and Brabantia. With its commitment to sustainable change, Megawatt hopes to inspire others and positively influence the creative industry.
