Background
Stranger Things 5: The end is near, and it’s going to be big. The long-awaited final season of Stranger Things, Netflix’s hit series, was poised for release. In collaboration with Netflix and Truus, it was up to Megawatt to bring the concept to life in the most impactful way possible. The grandeur, suspense, and energy of the final season were at the forefront.
Approach
This massive activation began with a lot of (and I mean a lot of) research. Planning, building, calculating, fine-tuning; could it be even cooler? Even more infused with the mysterious yet claustrophobic atmosphere of the final season. We left nothing to chance and handled the setup, production, execution, and finishing touches. In Amsterdam (Westerpark), we created a bit of magic for 1000 hardcore Stranger Things fans.
In the Hawkins Lab, telekinetic skills were tested, there was plenty of dancing to 80’s tunes at WSQK radio, ice creams were enjoyed at Scoops Ahoy, and pizzas were devoured at Surfer Boy Pizza. Finally, the lucky participants got to watch the first episode of season 5 before anyone else in the Netherlands. Ain’t that a treat!
Result
At Netflix, it’s not about hard numbers, but the ultimate experience. Whether we succeeded is for you to decide. The aftermovie speaks more than a thousand words. After the successful activation, we kicked back, tired but satisfied, to binge the first part of season 5 ourselves. Popcorn, a large Diet Coke, and some Eggo’s on the side ;-).
