Background
Heineken needs no introduction. This Dutch beer brand has been a global phenomenon for years. And that is precisely the challenge from the Dutch multinational: bring back ‘our Heineken’ to the Netherlands. While it has never really left, the (primarily) international and English-language campaigns made it feel that way. Heineken believes in the power of ‘togetherness’, and after winning the pitch, we embarked on this journey just that way. Together.
Approach
Back to the roots. And not just back to the Netherlands, but back to the feeling of the local pub. To the festival, the football club, and the living room. Megawatt designed an activation concept that perfectly embodies this feeling. The Creative Team crafted a foundation using 3D renders and seamless design that not only aligned with the overarching concept but was also locally applicable. With one concept and investment, Megawatt managed to create local activations at Concert at Sea, North Sea Jazz, Lowlands, Blijdorp Festival, ADE, and the unique celebration at De Ring in Amsterdam.
Result
Megawatt was the lead agency for the conceptual and visual development. We established a flexible and scalable concept that has delivered a consistent brand experience at festivals for Heineken in 2025. And it’s our creative team that proves we secretly know what’s best for ‘our Heineken’ here in the Netherlands. They designed the bar from A to Z, with elements included in the toolkit of Heineken Global. When you see an international ad featuring Serena Williams, with our own design as the backdrop… you know you’ve nailed it.
