Megawatt is undergoing a significant restructuring and is achieving its best year ever; the tenth year of Megawatt concludes in great success nonetheless.

n the final week of the year, Stephan Kwast, CEO of Megawatt, reflects on a period of stumbling and rising again. “I wouldn’t call it falling, but I honestly admit that the beginning of the year didn’t start optimally,” Stephan shares. At the beginning of 2024, Megawatt not only launched a renewed proposition but also merged the three previously separate agencies into one powerful Megawatt. This was a crucial step towards becoming the leading 360º activation agency in the Netherlands. This unique proposition turned out to be a bullseye, but the changes also brought challenges. “We grew rapidly, created a middle management layer, and I took a step back from the daily operations as CEO,” Stephan explains. All of this was carried out according to the scale-up methodology, which is particularly successful when the right people are in the right positions.

 

We are not a corporate!

 

At the beginning of 2025, a turning point was reached. “We had become too ‘corporate’, whereas we are actually an energetic and entrepreneurial team. Those two ingredients are essential for our success,” Stephan explains. “I began to focus exactly on what I excel at as an entrepreneur and what has made me successful,” he continues. Emphasising operational excellence, commercial growth, steering based on key performance indicators (KPIs), and increasing seniority marked the transition towards maturity.

 

All of this was driven by a clear goal and motto for 2025: the expansion of the client portfolio! We were invited to numerous pitches and won many of them. As a result, this year we had the privilege of welcoming new clients such as Heineken, Desperados, Swiss Sense, Arriva, ESN, Haribo, C&A, and Chio.

 

“For 2026, the annual theme has been set: f***ing happy clients. With the entire portfolio, which includes brands such as Coca-Cola Company, Netflix, Nederlandse Loterij, Chiquita, Arla, and Izico, I want us to have our full focus on our clients’ campaigns in 2026,” says Stephan.

 

And internally? Megawatt is returning to its infectious and powerful foundation: energy. Supercharge yourself, your team, and your client. “That’s how we turned around 2025, and we are going to make 2026 even more successful with this,” says Stephan Kwast.
